Italy: 25 posted Romanian workers without salary and no contract for over 3 months
On the building site of a school in Centrale di Zugliano, in the province of Vicenza, 25 Romanian posted workers have been working for months without salary and without a contract. The main contracting undertaking is COSMO HAUS from Reggio Emilia, which declares to have subcontracted the works and to be in order with all payments. They also claim they don’t know these workers and their conditions, as they are employees of their subcontractors.
Works on the building site stopped to protest and the citizens of Zugliano are helping them, left without money, food and winter clothes. If the situation is not resolved, the workers are planning to start a hunger strike.
Some of their colleagues have been paid with vouchers and received contracts for 10 or 15 days.
